Madeline has been expressing a lot of interest in filmmaking and so we put this together. She was the visionary mastermind behind this short film, Sheeps. The 12-minute uncut Director's Edition will be out in March 2011.

Shooby Dooby
A little Lucy nibble. And a few blurbs. This is really more for me than you, but I hope you enjoy.
*Lu is a maniac on the stairs. She'll dive down head first trusting that you'll be there to catch her. And most of the time you will be. But every once in awhile, well let's not talk about it. Oh, and she has a DENT in the middle of her forehead that the doctor says will eventually fill back in. Nice.
*Madeline and Brenley played Stuffed Animal Barbershop recently, and I found locks of unicorn hair as well as very fine blonde hair. And Maddie's left side is a little layered now. Could've been a lot worse.
*Aaron's reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe with Maddie! It's her first real book and most of the time she fidgets until talk of sweets and cake, or something very silly happens, then she perks up. But she wants to keep reading it together, so we will.
*Maddie is kind of amazing me with her musical ear. She really prefers jazz to anything else, and hums along with Dave Brubeck, piano and sax solos and all. I'm waiting patiently until she has the attention span for piano lessons.
*We're taking our first mini family vacation next week! I think we're doing one day at King's Island (Maddie's nirvana) and probably a day at this amazing museum in Cincy. I think it will be fun/hellish.
*My friend Julie B. was talking about completing her 50 states sometime soon. Her goal is to visit all of the non-contiguous states (Alaska and Hawaii for those who skipped geography) this year. And then she listed some more out west, like Idaho and New Mexico and Oregon...and I REALLY want to go with her since I have friends in all those states! But I have no more vacation days left. Real Life, you are a real bummer sometimes.
*I have successfully organized a standing Girls Night Out date every Wednesday night with some really great friends. This is kind of big, since the guys have had a date night for the past 5 years. For some reason, it's hard to get the girls together. But I'm glad we did it.

Lucy gives High Five, Low Five.
Lucy is 11 months today. She has four extremely gnarly teeth. I can't figure out if two are growing together on the bottom. And her top two are large (gets that from me). She will readily give you five, high or low, rarely too slow. Lucy says Dada and something that sounds like "haiiii" when she waves. She eats anything and thrills at drinking from a cup. She crawls fast and stands around furniture. She likes to play with Maddie and looks at her with complete awe and everything big sister does is hilarious. Maddie picks her up under her arms and totes her around, a little companion who she needs occasionally for imaginary airplane rides in the closet.

"Kids!"
The weekend after Christmas, Aaron and Madeline went out to play in the snow. We only got a very little accumulation in our yard, but they used every snowflake to roll up a sweet mini-snowman. Maddie came running in asking for a carrot, then a little later she needed buttons for eyes (we ended up using bottle caps), then she needed a hat. I watched out of the kitchen window as they put together a very cute little snowman, who was finally dubbed "Junior." You can watch the video to see poor Junior's fate. He was violently knocked over and his carrot nose was planted victoriously like a flag into his....."bottom." Madeline thought this was hilarious and asked to watch the video many times.
The other day she declared that she had made a "carrot snowman butt ball." Her favorite word is butt, or any variation of bottom, booty, pooty, stinkerbutt...etc. She is quite silly. But the funniest part is that, at the end of the video Aaron says "Kids." Like, "oh brother...kids, nothin' like 'em." Or an exasperated..."kids, good grief." And now Maddie is saying "Kids" in that same tone.
Most of the time she uses it where we would say "Dang" or "Oh shit!" Sometimes she gets the meaning and usage just right, like this morning at breakfast when Lucy was playing the part of Godzilla on the breakfast table, rampaging through breakfast town, knocking over cups and bowls of cereal. She looked at Lucy, rolled her eyes, and said "Kids."

Getting Ready for Preschool!
Maddie started preschool at Hazelwood on Tuesday! She was a little nervous and kept asking if I would stay, but she was looking forward to playing at the "water table." In typical Maddie fashion, she had nothing to say about preschool when I got home, but slowly a few details of the day came forth. Apparently Mrs. Foley told her not to touch a "pretend cake" that was on a plate. That was all I got...and she said she had fun at the water table. Smile.
It helped that she and Brenley Pete are in the same class. Check out the Flickr set to see the transformation from "Getting ready" to "Bye bye".....cute girls.

The GOOSE!
Today I came home from work to a clean house and a sleeping baby. Maddie was with Papaw and Mamaw. Lucy woke up and we went outside to enjoy a beautiful evening and an impromptu photo shoot. My aunt had dressed her in this sweet little yellow dress that my neighbors, Bob and Virginia, had brought over as a gift for Lucy when she was born. Virginia told me that she had had the outfit in her closet for many years (it came with a matching diaper cover for cloth diapers). The transition back to work is going well, especially when I can come home for lunch and be with the girls for a bit, and come right home after work without any running around. We're very thankful for the support of our family!
Tomorrow is Maddie's pre-school orientation!

Madeline
What a little beauty! I miss her long hair only when I see pictures like this one. Other than that, I love her short style. Maddie starts preschool soon, I go back to work in a little over a week, Lucy is getting monstrous way too quickly and life keeps on going. Summer, sad to see you go, yet I'm excited for changes.

HUGS!!!!!
Brenley has been over quite a bit this summer and the girls' favorite game is Sleep Over. They get into pajamas, then brush their teeth, go to bed and "sleep", then they play dress up. I love the look on Pete's face as she's getting overwhelmed in a Maddie Mega Hug. We're excited that Brenley is going to come over two days a week starting in the fall to play with Maddie and go to preschool. They will be in the same class at Hazelwood. Yay!!
Lucy after her bath, and more..
Lucy is getting super chubtastic! Losing her hair a little, but still bright orange red. Smiles a lot and loves to look at her big sister. Maddie came up with code names for the family this week: Mommy is "Candy Cane", Daddy, "Milkshake"; Lucy, "Lollipop"; Maddie, "Ice Cream Cone"; Trevor, "Cupcake"; Bubby, "Ice Cream Sandwich". I told her it would make more sense if I were Milkshake, but no. Ha!

Summer 'Do!
It is August and work is just around the corner. We've had such a nice summer here at home. I've loved spending the days with my girls, but I am definitely excited to be going back to work. The summer has been full of spur-of the moment cookie and cupcake baking, ice cream making, county fair fun-housing, swimming, farmers marketing, Children's Garden walking, baby cooing, watermelon and cherry tomato growing....fun times. Oh yes, and short hair cuts!

Kings Island
Aaron took Maddie to King's Island and she rode all the rides she could. She loved the Fairly Odd Coaster (AKA, The Beastie!) which she rode three times. They were there for about nine hours and didn't get home until after midnight. In her sleepy tired voice she said "Mommy....I rode the big roller coaster!" They both had so much fun. She told me that we would have to go back so that I could ride with her. I can't remember when I rode my first roller coaster, but I"m pretty sure it wasn't at three years old!

Cowgirl
Nonny took Maddie and Brenley to see Blue's Clues at the Civic Theatre on Friday. We didn't have any Blue's related outfits or accessories, so we decided to do a little dressing up in a totally unrelated theme, one that is a perennial favorite--Cowgirl! Why not. Then we took advantage of the pretty day and the pretty flowers and took some pictures. Madeline's posing cracked me up.

Lucy
Welcome, Lucinda Catherine Fisher! Our sweet little red-head was born April 24 at 10:50 a.m. She weighed 7 lbs 14.5 oz and is 20 inches long. We were able to have her at Expectations, in the water, after a very short 3 hours of labor! She is a super chilled-out baby and already goes about 4 hours between feedings at night, so we are getting some rest. Click on the picture to see more of Lucy, Maddie and the rest of us.

False alarms
Well, this is new for me. Overdue, false alarms, wondering if the baby will ever get borned. I'm trying to be patient. No news yet....

Baby Fisher II -- A First Look

You're seeing the little squirt's first smile! Isn't she/he so cute? I had an ultrasound this morning and got to see several expressions--pouty lips, tongue out, eyes open, and a smile. It was amazing and I fell in love with this sweet little person inside me. At 32 weeks, the baby is now a whopping 4 pounds and everything is normal, except for Filbert the Fibroid. Filbert is maintaining fighting weight, but hasn't gotten bigger since my last visit two months ago, so that is good!

Sick Girl
As I was driving the other day, I started thinking about all of the strange illnesses I've had over the years. My body gets weirder as I get older, but I normally think of myself as a healthy person. I don't get too many colds, haven't had flu in years, but I get these freakish bugs from time to time.
It began with childhood croup, not uncommon, but then I had adult croup in my early twenties. Aaron and I began our marriage in a very cool old apartment building downtown (ooh, downtown Muncie..I know you're jealous). Many of our friends lived in the building, Canopic, and we would hang our heads out of the windows and talk to each other through the breezeway, a la Friends [insert more relevant pop-cultural reference]. It was all fine and grand, except for the random robberies, our stolen bikes and THEN bronchitis. Not just "10 days on antibiotics and its over" bronchitis, this bugger lasted for months. Going on a year, we finally concluded after false diagnoses of GERD, seasonal allergies and plague, that I was allergic to the building. So we had to move, and two weeks after moving to a newer, infinitely less cool apartment complex, I was cured. But then the next winter I had massive croup that took me to the emergency room. That was a one-time croup, though. Whew! I haven't had bronchitis since.
So, what else? There was the Scabies incident of '03, the random rashes of all my life, the Bane of My Existence Poison Ivy Trauma of '07, the recent 2 months of daily headaches and migraine to go along with morning sickness, the Baby-sized Fibroid Tumor Named Filbert and currently: the Cold Sore Plague of '08. I just hope this goes away, like everything else I've ever had. I can't take it anymore! Aaron NEVER gets sick. He never caught my scabies or cold sores or bronchitis, no matter how hard I tried to give it to him. He's had flu once and a vericose vein on his balls that just went away. That's it! No fair.
Whew, glad I got that out. I know I sound like a 70-year-old woman relishing the recitation of all her illnesses, but really--some of it is funny looking back, but it is hard as hell when you're going through it. Especially those scabies. GOD!
